“Fort Lauderdale City Commission will take a final vote on passing the Amendment to Unified Land Development Regulations that will require outdoor homeless food aid suppliers to comply to a series of absurd rules, violation of which is a 2nd degree misdemeanor. This innocent sounding rule change will likely close down many of the food providers for homeless people in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Fort Lauderdale Food Not Bombs & Love Thy Neighbor will be sharing food out front of City Hall to show our disapproval of the sharing ban. The City has routinely ignored public input on all the discriminatory laws they have passed recently, and held the first vote on this law at 2 am two weeks ago. At this time, it seems nearly inevitable that the only way the sharing ban will be defeated will be in the courts or at the sites of these sharings themselves. Join us one last time to dissuade our wayward Mayor from this path.”
